    Privacy Policy

    Last Updated: August 18, 2026

    Introduction

Free Whop Downloader ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our Chrome extension.

Two versions of this extension exist

From August 2026 the Whop Downloader listing on the Chrome Web Store is operated by SERP, and the build distributed there signs you in with a SERP account. Copies installed before that date keep working unchanged against our own licence server, as do licences bought from us directly. This policy covers both — items marked [SERP build] apply to the current Chrome Web Store version, and items marked [legacy build] apply to earlier copies and to licences purchased from us. SERP publishes its own extension privacy policy at serp.store/legal/browser-extensions-privacy.

    Information We Collect

We collect no personal browsing data. Specifically:

    • Video, audio & PDF URLs: We temporarily capture video stream URLs and course PDF URLs from Whop pages to enable downloads. These URLs are only used for the download process and are not stored permanently or transmitted to our servers.
    • Anonymous install ID: On install, we generate a random identifier (not tied to your name, email, or Whop account) used only to enforce free-tier download limits and, for paying users, to validate a license key.
    • License key (Pro users only): If you purchase Pro, your license key and the anonymous install ID are sent to our license server to activate and periodically revalidate your subscription.
    • No accounts, no tracking, no analytics, no advertising identifiers.

    How We Store Information

Your download count, license status, and anonymous install ID are stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API. They are not shared with third parties beyond the license validation described below.

    Data Transmission

The only network requests this extension makes are:

    • Requests to Whop.com, Mux.com, and Amazon S3 (amazonaws.com) to download the video, audio, or PDF you choose to download (which you initiate)
    • [legacy build] For Pro users: requests to our license server (api.freewhopdownloader.com, hosted on Cloudflare Workers) containing only the anonymous install ID and license key, to activate and periodically revalidate your subscription. The license server validates against Freemius, our payment and licensing provider (see Third-Party Services).
    • [SERP build] SERP account sign-in: when you sign in, the extension sends your email address and the sign-in request to SERP's authentication service (auth.serp.co) and stores a SERP session token, your entitlement status, and related access information in browser storage. Your Whop password is never requested, read, or transmitted.
    • [SERP build] Trial enforcement: while a limited trial is in effect, the extension may send SERP's authentication service a session token, a randomly generated device identifier, the entitlement name, a randomly generated download-intent identifier, the operation type, and a locally generated hashed asset identifier. Raw page content and raw media files are not included. This is used only to apply trial limits, confirm entitlement, prevent duplicate trial use, and protect the service from abuse.
    • [SERP build] Authentication diagnostics: if sign-in fails, diagnostic information may be sent to SERP — the extension identifier, the authentication operation, technical error information, and the account email address associated with the failed request. Authentication tokens, browser cookies, page URLs, page content, and media files are not intentionally included.
    • [SERP build] Version check: this build contacts GitHub's public API for version information. The request carries no account credentials, page content, or media information; GitHub receives your IP address and user-agent as with any web request.

    Local Processing & Merging

Merging of downloaded video and audio happens entirely on your device, either via an in-browser WebAssembly component (ffmpeg.wasm, bundled with the extension) or, optionally, a local helper application you may install. Neither path uploads your video or audio to any server.

    Third-Party Services

This extension does not use analytics or advertising SDKs. The parties your data may be shared with are limited to the following:

    • [legacy build] Cloudflare Workers — hosts our license validation endpoint, used only by Pro users (see Data Transmission above).
    • [legacy build] Freemius — our payment and licensing provider. When you buy Pro, checkout opens on Freemius's own page, and Freemius processes your email and payment details to create and manage your license. We never see or store your full payment details. Freemius also handles license activation and revalidation; data you provide at checkout is governed by Freemius's privacy policy at freemius.com/privacy/.
    • [SERP build] SERP — from August 2026 SERP operates the Chrome Web Store listing and provides account sign-in, entitlement checks, and trial enforcement through its authentication service, and handles support and purchases for new customers. Exactly what SERP receives is listed under Data Transmission above. Its handling of that data is governed by SERP's extension privacy policy at serp.store/legal/browser-extensions-privacy, and access or deletion requests go to support@serp.store.
    • [SERP build] GitHub — serves the public version information this build checks for updates. It receives standard web-request metadata (IP address, user-agent) and no account or media data.

    Permissions

Our extension requires the following permissions:

    • webRequest: To detect Mux video stream URLs and course PDF URLs, and capture the headers needed to download them, while you're on Whop.com
    • storage: To store your download count, license status, and anonymous install ID locally
    • downloads: To save downloaded video/audio files to your device
    • declarativeNetRequest: To re-attach the page's Referer/Origin headers when fetching video segments directly, so Mux accepts the requests
    • offscreen: To run the bundled ffmpeg.wasm component in an offscreen page, which merges your downloaded video and audio into one file entirely on your device
    • alarms: To keep the extension's background process responsive during long downloads and to periodically revalidate Pro licenses
    • nativeMessaging: Only used if you choose to install our optional local helper application, as an alternative to the in-browser merge for very large videos
    • Host permissions (whop.com, mux.com, amazonaws.com): To detect and download video and PDF content from these domains (course PDFs are served from Amazon S3)

    Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:

    • You can clear extension data at any time through Chrome's extension settings
    • You can uninstall the extension, which will remove all locally stored data
    • [SERP build] To request access to or deletion of personal information held by SERP — your account email, the randomly generated device identifier, entitlement records, and diagnostic records — email support@serp.store. SERP states it retains these only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and service protection.
    • [legacy build] Licences bought from us before the SERP transition continue to be honoured and continue to validate against our own licence server. We hold no personal data for them beyond the licence key and the anonymous install ID; contact us via freewhopdownloader.com/support to have those removed.

    Children's Privacy

Our extension is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

    Changes to This Privacy Policy
